Golden Amber (thread, acrylic, textiles; 24 x 29 in) is a warm, faceted portrait built from stitched and layered fabric fragments. Each feature is constructed on its own textile piece, then sewn into place with thread lines that wander, overlap, and subtly disrupt the surface.
The golden‑brown palette amplifies the sense of warmth and familiarity, while the fragmented construction reveals how identity can be assembled from pieces that carry their own histories.
Painted areas soften the stitched contours, allowing the face to shift between clarity and abstraction.
In this work, Kole continues her exploration of facades how a surface can reveal, conceal, or fracture a story and how familiar materials can hold multiple versions of a person at once.
