Planned Spontaneity” is an original, signed 24 × 32  inch painting by Bisbee, Arizona artist Bill Mead, a wonderfully eccentric fusion of music, nature, and ripe, impossible invention. A giant tomato becomes a hybrid instrument  part violin, part horn, part living vine — while human hands emerge to play it as if coaxing a song from the fruit itself.

A dark bird arcs overhead, reaching toward a glowing sphere in the sky, adding a sense of motion and quiet mystery. The landscape behind the scene shifts from soft clouds to warm fields, grounding the surreal elements in Mead’s signature dreamlike calm. His surrealism is confident and unforced; the improbable settles naturally into place, inviting the viewer to linger on the wit, the symbolism, and the gentle strangeness woven throughout. A vivid, character‑rich work from Mead’s Gravity & Wonder collection.
