Slick Woods III (thread, acrylic, raw canvas; 24 x 27 in) brings the series to a more fragmented and expressive conclusion. Each facial feature is constructed on its own textile fragment, stitched into place with lines that wander, cross, and pull against the surface.

The layered patches create a portrait that feels deliberately unsettled, revealing how identity can be built from pieces that don’t fully align. Painted areas soften and blur the stitched contours, allowing the face to shift between clarity and distortion.

In this work, Kole continues her exploration of facades, how a surface can reveal, obscure, or fracture a story and how familiar materials can hold multiple versions of a person at once.
