Camera Obscura” is an original, signed 32 × 24 inch painting by Bisbee, Arizona artist Bill Mead, a striking surreal portrait that plays with perception, identity, and the act of seeing. A suited figure holds a triangular device in place of a face, its single central eye gazing outward like a quiet, all‑knowing lens. Perched on the shoulder, a vivid bird adds a flash of color and a hint of mischief.

The landscape behind the figure glows with saturated greens, tall trees, and a sky full of shifting light, a world both familiar and dreamlike. Mead’s surrealism is confident and unforced; the improbable feels perfectly at home, inviting the viewer to linger on the symbolism, the humor, and the gentle strangeness woven throughout. A vivid, character‑rich work from Mead’s Gravity & Wonder collection.
