About the Show

Artemizia Foundation is thrilled to announce our next exhibition ART(ist), featuring an extraordinary new body of work by internationally renowned photographer and Bisbee resident David Rose.

David's remarkable career has taken him from serving as Annie Leibovitz's first assistant to photographing world leaders including Nelson Mandela and Hillary Clinton. He later became Bruce Springsteen's principal photographer, documenting both the iconic musician's performances and private life, as well as two album covers.

Today, David serves as President of Photography 4 Humanity, a global initiative in partnership with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

His latest series, ART(ist), reimagines portraiture through what he calls photo-sculptures, collaborative works in which the artists themselves become the art.

Featured artists include Shepard Fairey, Swoon, SEN2 Figueroa, Risk, Danielle Scott, WRDSMTH, Corie Mattie, Isaac Pelayo, Nychos, Stikki Peaches, and Cey Adams, all of whom are well represented in the Artemizia Foundation collection.

I've had the privilege of supporting this project almost from its inception, recently traveling with David to New York and Los Angeles as he photographed the artists featured in this exhibition.

ART(ist) is a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the remarkable people behind some of the most important contemporary art being made today. We can't wait to share it with you.
