About Anne Moran and Robert Brown - Moran Brown Studio 

Anne Moran and Robert Brown are collaborative artists whose large-scale abstract wall sculptures in metal are installed in public, commercial, and residential spaces worldwide. Since founding Moran Brown Studio in 1998, the duo has developed a distinctive language of geometric abstraction that marries luminous surfaces and rich color. Their practice is defined by a balance of precision and expression, bringing resonance and focus to the environments their artworks inhabit.

Educated at Carnegie-Mellon University and the San Francisco Art Institute, Anne Moran began her career as a painter before experimenting in metalwork, while Robert Brown trained as a sculptor and apprenticed with bronze artist Robert Wick.

Inspired by crystalline structures, mineral palettes, the ordered layering of feathers and scales, and the shifting gradations of sky and water, their wall sculptures capture the phenomena of light and give them lasting form. Crafted primarily in dyed and anodized aluminum, their work is characterized by subtle gradations, rhythmic layering, and surfaces that shift in response to changing perspective.

Moran Brown’s sculptures have been commissioned for prominent architectural and public spaces worldwide, including the Setai Fifth Avenue Hotel (New York), Bellagio and Vdara (Las Vegas), Mayo Clinic (Rochester), JW Marriott (Zhengzhou, China), and a royal palace in Qatar. Their achievements include a CODA Design + Art Award in Hospitality, repeated recognition among CODAworx’s Top 50 Public Art Stars in The Economic Power of Public Art, and participation in exhibitions such as the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York.

Now more than two decades into their practice, Moran Brown Studio continues to expand the possibilities of metal as an expressive medium. Their youngest daughter, Leah Brown, has joined the studio in Bisbee Arizona, marking their evolution into a multi-generational collaboration.
