Linda Charles

Born 1969 – United Kingdom

!

Born in the South East of England, Linda Charles has always had an overwhelming attraction to color.
Charles first developed an interest in abstract art during her years studying textiles and fashion at Scotland’s Herriot Watt University, and has enjoyed a successful career as an artist working with prestigious galleries across the Europe.

“My aim is to bring the feel of the street and its overdose of color and design indoors. My inspiration comes from things often overlooked and taken for granted. I love raw beauty, peeling paint, old weather-beaten doors and window frames on buildings, rusted metals and old tarnished mirrors and mixing the old with the new. I like to work on distressed surfaces with multiple layers to create a depth to my art.”

Using collected materials, Linda structures patterns, texture and color to emerge organically in her work.
